The Nelson Fourplex is a high-end, modern fourplex apartment building in Anchorage.  The site is very steep slope facing south, with exceptional views toward South Anchorage and over the adjacent sports fields.   The site provided both challenges to fit the desired building on the site while at the same time providing a wonderful opportunity for solar gain, daylighting and great views.  These site challenges were met by staggering the building in plans and locating garages on the lower level dug into the hillside.   A formal entry was located on the north side of the building.  Facing the public street is an elevation with glass block, and special lighting features creating a soothing lighting effect.  Private balconies on the south side take full advantage of the sun as well as the wonderful views.
